Hey there! My blog has moved to an exciting new website knittwittowo.com 🙂
I have thought about having my own website for a while, 7 years actually, an old journal entry from 2010 proves it! It made me sad that for so long I have thought about owning the website name and decided to take the leap. I no longer want to hold back on what I want, so I am diving in. I plan to share my knitting, crochet, drawing and bullet journalling, so please do follow me there.
I was reading Crochet Saved my Life (well I think that is where I read it) and this book suggested that using colourful yarn can boost your mood, so I though why not I will see if this works! So I bought a whole lot of Women’s Institute yarn from Hobbycraft because I think it has the nicest colour palette.
I love granny squares but I knew that I wanted to try something new, and I spotted a beautiful square called Sunburst and followed a pattern by Nittybits. The pattern is very easy to follow and I just love sunbursts ! Very addicted !
I started off by making one up fully and then I made a few of each colour in round round.
Once I had done round one, I moved on to round two. Just look at the colours! I just love looking at them in my plarn basket 🙂
I now have almost completed round three of all my sunbursts and will have 21 of each outer colour. I will do another post soon once I have all of them done! But for now just look at my pile of sunbursts at round two below and imagine how long it took me to get that far!
This is a mixture of photos of coffee from my favourite cafe, my Cath Kidston mug , Marvin my crocheted teddy and my granny square blanket… oh and some crocheted french fancies!
I like taking photos of my granny squares at different stages. There is something nice about works in progress 🙂 I hope you like this too!
Over the past three months I have been working on two blankets at the same time. This is the smaller of the two, please look at my previous blog post for photos of my larger blanket . I do not intend on making this one quite as big as the other blanket – it is the perfect size to keep my legs warm when I am working at a desk or on the sofa.
The photo above is from about a month ago. I have since enlarged it a little bit, scroll down to see.
The photo below is what it looks like at the moment, it a good size so I might just finish it with a border after christmas.
For the past three months, I have been doing nothing but making granny squares, not that I am complaining! I love making granny squares, it has become so automatic to me now that I can sit watching documentaries for hours crocheting away.
I started wanting to make a blanket the size of my single bed but now I am so addicted that I want to make it the size of a double bed! So far I have made 42 squares 🙂 (6 X 7 ) and I have calculated that I will need about another 18 yay
Please scroll down to look at my beautiful blanket 🙂

All folded up and beautiful 🙂
I really need to sleep but I thought I would give you a little teaser of what you will find on my facebook page 🙂
I took this photo today with instagram. You can have a look at my photos on webstagram if you wish.
I hope to make it wider and perhaps longer… I am seriously running out of wool and the whole point of this blanket was to use up random balls of wool with no purpose, so buying more doesn’t make sense. BUT I know it would look nicer somewhat larger.
In the past I bought one ball of wool of one colour, why? I have no idea. Perhaps I thought I would make more toys that don’t require much yarn, but alas no I did not make many more toys. So I was left with lots of sad lonely yarn.
Now it’s happier with all these other colours.
I will keep you updated on the progress!
